IWAKIRI can be defined as exploration in Yoruba. This collection explores different cultural celebrations in Africa, and we have used this as an inspiration to create beautiful pieces in the IWAKIRI collection. KÍLĖNTÁR used different techniques such as beading, prints, cowries, and Shibori to complete this collection.

The IWOLE skirt is one of KÍLĖNTÁR’s exclusive edition, which focuses on working and promoting artisanal handwork in Nigeria.

Each layered print of the IWOLE skirt is made using the shibori dyeing technique. The fabric is carefully hand threaded to form a pattern that is then hand-dyed. Each print of the skirt takes a total of 14 hours to thread and dye by the artisans. After our prints have been created we then sew each print together layer by layer in-house to form this beautiful piece called IWOLE
